Airbus Cabin of the Future : What air travel would look like in 2050?

After celebrating its own four decades of innovation, Airbus now is looking to the next 40-plus years – actively working with other industry stakeholders and experts to anticipate the global needs of a better-connected and more sustainable world.

However, it all begins with one question: “what will air transport look like in the year 2050?” In its report “The Future by Airbus,” Airbus hypothesises how the industry, aircraft and passengers might change by that time – while highlighting potential steps to meet the needs of tomorrow.

Imagine a new flying experience inspired by nature, the Concept Cabin doesn’t replicate traditional cabin classes found in today’s commercial aircraft.  Instead, it incorporates individual zones like the vitalising, interaction and smart-tech areas so passengers can hold business meetings, play games or just relax while enjoying the world beneath them – viewing it through the cabin’s bionic structure coated with a biopolymer membrane that eliminates the need for windows.

Unveiled at the Paris Airshow in London last week, the whole experience of travelling in the future has been witnessed by many spectators through virtual images presented by Airbus. Airbus says that by 2050, passengers will be able to experience in-seat “mood lighting, aroma therapy and acupressure treatments.” Or for passengers want some social interaction, the center zone will offer a ‘virtual pop up projection’ that transforms from holographic gaming to ‘virtual changing rooms for shoppers’.

Watch the video below and see for yourself. I think the only thing missing is a hot tub…
